Biophony: Nature’s Orchestra and Music in the Wild

March 17, 2012

Biologist Bernie Krause spends his time trying to understand music as it occurs in nature. Birds, crickets, gorillas, and elephants, to name a few — anything and everything in the wild has it’s own type of noise making. Every species finds their way to express a litany of diverse sounds, for as diverse of intentions. Krause calls the collection of nature’s sounds a ‘biophony,’ one part biology, one part symphony. Biophony. Life sound/audio.
